Derby, Bold Lane
blueprint PROJECT
The Bold Lane, Derby urban regeneration development is a Blueprint project - the current proposals comprise a mixed use development in a vulnerable area to the north western quadrant of Derby city centre, close to Derby Cathedral in an area known as the "Cathedral Quarter" or St Georges. The site is within a conservation area that covers most of this quarter and the project objectives are to regenerate and reinforce the fabric of the area, which lies adjacent to the fashionable independent retailers of Sadlergate, as a place to live, work and shop.
The first phase of development (value £20m) comprises 25 apartments, 45,000 sq ft of commercial office space and 17,000 sq ft of retail/café bar space in four buildings arranged around a public square. A planning application has been submitted and work is due to start on site in summer 2008 with completion towards the end of 2009.
