Leicester, Phoenix Square
blueprint PROJECT
Located in the heart of St George's, a previously neglected corner of the city, now emerging as Leicester's ‘Cultural Quarter', Phoenix Square is a £21.5m sustainable, mixed-use, cultural building. It combines contemporary living space, with independent arts cinema, café bar, state of the art workspace units and office studios to house Leicester's growing number of creative businesses.
Phoenix Square is the creation of a partnership between Blueprint, Phoenix, and Leicester City Council in collaboration with De Montfort University. Designed by award-winning architects Marsh Grochowski and built by Willmott Dixon, Phoenix Square enables interaction between public, private and transitional spaces, blending the living, workspace and social elements of the scheme. The building is an example of sustainable architecture using solar panels, grey water recycling and natural light wherever possible. In addition the homes are rated as Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 and are amongst the most energy-efficient in Leicester.
