Mark Hallett

Mark Hallett is Development Director of Igloo Regeneration, responsible for Igloo's direct developments in South Wales and South West England. He is development director for Igloo's joint venture with the Welsh Assembly Government for the regeneration of Roath Basin in Cardiff Bay, one of the most significant waterfront developments in the UK. The scheme will transform the last major quarter in the Inner Harbour into a sustainable, mixed-use creative urban neighbourhood, delivering over 1 million sq ft of commercial space for media, biosciences and related industries together with more than 1,000 new homes.

Mark studied at the Welsh School of Architecture UWIST and obtained an MSc in Project Management at Reading University winning a Science & Engineering Research Council award for the best qualifying UK student . He has worked as a Project Manager, Development Director and Director for a variety of consultancies, contractors, developers and joint venture companies for over 25 years. His experience encompasses the full range of commercial, residential, retail and leisure projects with responsibility for identifying and unlocking value from major brownfield urban regeneration land holdings with a combined development value in excess of £1 billion. Many of these projects have been delivered in partnerships between the public and private sectors.

• Urban Design Week - Exemplar Project

Mark comments regularly in the media on urban design and regeneration issues and has been principal speaker at the House Builders Federation Annual Conference, SSDC Sustainable Development Conference and English Partnerships / CABE Urban Regeneration Companies Annual Symposium. Mark is a past Chairman of The Institute of Management's Management Research Group. He sits on the design review panels of the Design Commission for Wales and is a Director of Cardiff & Co, the marketing body for the City of Cardiff.
